DON SMALL BUSINESS INNOVATION RESEARCH (SBIR) EXPERIMENTATION CELL (DON-SEC)

US NAVY

AUSGAR leads teams of seasoned professionals that prepare, engineer, enact, analyze, and report on all experimentation efforts and aspects. DoN-SEC supports SBIR communities through facilitation, mentoring, and training to enhance transitioning of technological innovations. Recognizing that small business innovators are the catalyst that can provide solutions to meet new warfighter requirements, this program aims to demystify the experimentation process for program candidates. Four guidebooks have been published as living documents with frequent revisions, with additional process guides in production.

Since 2020, over 222 performers have been engaged and reviewed for experimentation readiness. DoN-SEC has provided valuable expertise in over 23 events, including Commander Fourth Fleet (C4F) experimentation, Technical Concept Experiment (TCE) 22.2, multiple Technology Operational Experimentation Exercise (TOEE) iterations, Coastal Trident, and recently facilitated tip-of-the-spear experimentation in the Integrated Battle Problems (IBP) series. In addition, developing technologies are directly supported in current hotspots in the European and Pacific theaters.

FLEET EXPERIMENTATION (FLEX)/FLEET DESIGN (FD)

From In-depth Operational and Tactical planning, engineering and installation processes, analysis techniques and community best practices. AUSGAR provides end to end support to address the pacing Fleet warfighting challenges by adding speed to capability at both the tactical and operational levels of war. AUSGAR capabilities encompass, but are not limited to, Engineering, Installation, Spectrum Planning and Management, Cyber Assessment and Authorization for Risk Mitigation Framework, operational and tactical planning, data analysis and data collection. AUSGAR is uniquely positioned within the Fleet Design, Fleet Experimentation, Cyber Security and Analysis communities to support experimentation activities examining the Fleet Commander’s guidance and evolving fleet concepts supporting the Navy’s capability to win across the full range of military operations.
